Important Risks: The fund is actively managed and its characteristics will vary. Stock values fluctuate in price so the value of your investment can go down depending on market conditions. The issuers of unsponsored depositary receipts are not obligated to disclose information that is, in the United States, considered material. The fund may use derivatives to hedge its investments or to seek to enhance returns. Derivatives entail risks relating to liquidity, leverage and credit that may reduce returns and increase volatility. International investing involves special risks including, but not limited to, political risks, currency fluctuations, illiquidity and volatility. These risks may be heightened for investments in emerging markets. The fund may engage in active and frequent trading, resulting in short-term capital gains or losses that could increase an investor’s tax liability. Investing in mid-cap companies may entail greater risk and higher volatility than investing in large-cap companies, due to factors such as shorter operating histories, less seasoned management or lower trading volumes, among other things. The fund may actively engage in short-selling, which entails special risks. If the fund makes short sales in securities that increase in value, the fund will lose value. Any loss on short positions may or may not be offset by investing short-sale proceeds in other investments. Investing in long/short strategies presents the opportunity for significant losses, including the loss of your total investment. Such strategies have the potential for heightened volatility and, in general, are not suitable for all investors.

1 The BofA Merrill Lynch 3-Month U.S. Treasury Bill Index is an unmanaged market index of U.S. Treasury securities maturing in 90 days that assume reinvestment of all income.‡ The Morningstar Rating TM for funds, or “star rating”, is calculated for managed products (including mutual funds, variable annuity and variable life subaccounts, exchange-traded funds, closed-end funds, and separate accounts) with at least a three-year history. Exchange-traded funds and open-ended mutual funds are considered a single population for comparative purposes. It is calculated based on a Morningstar Risk-Adjusted Return measure that accounts for variation in a managed product’s monthly excess performance, placing more emphasis on downward variations and rewarding consistent performance. The top 10% of products in each product category receive 5 stars, the next 22.5% receive 4 stars, the next 35% receive 3 stars, the next 22.5% receive 2 stars, and the bottom 10% receive 1 star. The Overall Morningstar Rating for a managed product is derived from a weighted average of the performance figures associated with its three-, five-, and 10-year (if applicable) Morningstar Rating metrics. The weights are: 100% three-year rating for 36-59 months of total returns, 60% five-year rating/40% three-year rating for 60-119 months of total returns, and 50% 10-year rating/30% five-year rating/20% three-year rating for 120 or more months of total returns. While the 10-year overall star rating formula seems to give the most weight to the 10-year period, the most recent three-year period actually has the greatest impact because it is included in all three rating periods. The fund was rated against the following numbers of U.S.-domiciled Equity Market Neutral funds over the following time periods:40 in the last 3 years, 39 in the last 5 years and 29 in the last 10 years. With respect to these Equity Market Neutral funds, the fund received a Morningstar Rating of 4, 4 and 4 stars for the 3-, 5- and 10-year periods, respectively. Other classes may have different performance characteristics.
