Other Recent Recalls
This incident is not isolated. Earlier this month, Bestway Sandwiches Inc. recalled approximately 24,870 pounds of frozen chicken and cheese taquito products due to contamination with foreign materials, including metal. These products were distributed in California and other states, posing a significant risk to consumers.
Similarly, Custom Food Solutions recently recalled over 100,000 pounds of ready-to-eat frozen drunken chicken products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. The recalled products were distributed primarily in Indiana and Kentucky. Both cases emphasize the challenges the food industry faces in maintaining rigorous quality assurance standards.
Additionally, the USDA issued a public health alert earlier in January 2025 for chicken empanadas produced by Rajbhog Foods due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, including milk. These products were sold in several states, adding to a series of chicken-related safety incidents in recent months. The alert highlights ongoing risks in ensuring allergen transparency for consumers.
In November 2024, Wegmans also faced scrutiny when it recalled its Asian Sesame Salad with Chicken due to an undeclared egg allergen. While the recall was unrelated to the current issue, it highlighted the ongoing need for vigilance in food safety processes.
