Darius Rucker is putting down roots in outside of the States!
Following a series of Instagram posts teasing a major life update, the “Wagon Wheel” singer, 58, revealed he has moved to London. Rucker’s new home marks a big change for the Grammy-winning country star, a South Carolina native, who previously lived in Nashville and Charleston.
While Rucker didn’t clarify if he’ll still have a foothold in the U.S. where his three children currently live, he was excited to share the news of his new home and reveal some upcoming shows he has there in an Instagram post on Thursday, Jan. 30.
“I can’t move to London and not play U.K. shows! Do you have your tickets yet? Limited VIP packages still available,” he wrote alongside a few photos of him performing on stage. “See you soon!”

The Hootie and the Blowfish frontman’s announcement comes after a series of Instagram posts teasing his move.
On Tuesday, Jan. 21, he shared a photo of him all bundled up in a park as he walked his two dogs, followed by another snap of what appeared to be the London skyline. In the comments, some of his followers claimed they recognized the famous scenery.
“Walking in Hyde Park????” one person asked, followed by another who guessed, “Looks like you are in London.”
Days later, he shared another photo of him posing on a street with a lit “Mamma Mia!” sign in the background. He captioned the post: “Had a great time in London at the Novello Theatre watching Mamma Mia!”

Rucker’s move may come as a surprise to fans, as he has always spoken fondly about his hometown in South Carolina. He told the Greenville News in 2019 that Charleston is where he feels most at home.
“It’s just where I’m supposed to be,” he said at the time. “I like the people a lot. My family’s here; my brothers and sisters are here. I still live here because I feel like when I get off my bus, when I get off the plane, I feel like it’s home. So I think that’s where God wants me to be.”
Rucker, who released his memoir Life’s Too Short in May 2024, even renovated a historic property in the city which was featured on his Design Network show Rucker’s Reno in 2022. That same year, he opened up about the renovation process to Architectural Digest.
“This is an antebellum property that was totally reimagined for the 21st century — and it’s now a place of comfort, community, and healing for my family, friends, and me,” he said.

Rucker also lived in Tennessee with his son Jack, now 20, and opened the doors to his Nashville abode during a tour with AD in 2020. He revealed to the outlet how he discovered the property and why he loved it so much during the tour.
“My son and I came here for the golf course; we stayed for everything else,” Rucker said at the time. “I love the house, I love where we live, I love the neighbors.”
Along with Jack, Rucker shares daughter Daniella, 23, with ex Beth Leonard. He’s also dad to daughter Carolyn, 29, from his previous relationship with Elizabeth Ann Phillips.
During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE in June 2023, Rucker opened up about how all his kids live in different places while sharing his Father’s Day plans that year.
“I got a show on Saturday, then I’ll fly home right after to go hang out with my son,” he said. “My daughters live in Nashville and New York so I won’t get to see them, but my son and I will go play golf.”
