Donald Trump was mocked online after appearing to forget when he went on a major international trip.
Donald Trump seemed to forget when he embarked on a major international trip during yet another rambling speech.
The president met with the leaders of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda on Thursday to sign a deal aimed at ending a decades-long conflict.
In a speech, Trump recalled a visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. “I was with a gentleman, the future King of Saudi Arabia,” said Trump, adding that he had been there “two months ago.”

In reality, the president visited Saudi Arabia in May. It was Trump’s first major international trip of his second term. The four-day tour saw the president also visiting Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
“Trump thinks May of 2025 is two months ago… got it,” an X user wrote, along with a thumbs up emoji. Another person wrote: “He was not over there 2 months ago. He is not well.”
A third wrote, “Um… he was over there in May.”

Just last month, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud visited the White House for a state dinner. Trump welcomed the controversial leader with a red carpet.
It marked the first time bin Salman had been to the White House since 2018. The prince was also treated to a military flyover, a band performance, and military members trotting on horseback as Trump stood alongside him.
Fox News described Trump’s greeting of bin Salman as “a welcome like no other that we’ve seen at our White House for the leader of Saudi Arabia.”
The visit saw the president rage at a reporter after she questioned MBS over the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. “The U.S. intelligence concluded that you orchestrated the brutal murder of a journalist,” the reporter said, referring to Khashoggi’s death.
“Why should Americans trust you?”
After learning that the reporter worked for ABC, Trump dismissed her as “Fake news. One of the worst in the business.” However, the president still answered her question.
“You’re mentioning somebody that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn’t like that gentleman that you’re talking about,” said Trump.
“Whether you liked him or didn’t like him, things happen. But [bin Salman] knew nothing about it. You don’t have to embarrass our guest by asking a question like that.
Khashoggi was a staunch critic of the kingdom. In 2021, U.S. intelligence later concluded Prince Mohammed had likely orchestrated his death. Prince Mohammed has always denied involvement in the killing of Khashoggi, a Saudi citizen and Virginia resident.
While he was quiet during Trump’s outburst, bin Salman later said he was “painful to hear anyone losing his life for no real purpose,” when discussing Khashoggi’s death. “And it’s been painful for us in Saudi Arabia. We’ve done all the right steps of investigation, and we’ve improved our system to be sure that nothing happened.”
