President Donald Trump’s annual physical examination results have raised eyebrows after his physician mentioned his “frequent victories in golf events.”
The results of his physical, which were written by Captain Sean Barbabella and released on Sunday, note: “President Trump remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and general physical function. His active lifestyle continues to contribute significantly to his well-being.
“President Trump’s days include participation in multiple meetings, public appearances, press availability, and frequent victories in golf events. President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to executive the duties of Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.”
Newsweek has contacted the White House for comment outside of regular working hours.

Why It Matters
Trump has repeatedly emphasized his strong physical and mental health, particularly during the 2024 presidential election campaign when comparing himself to Joe Biden. Trump was the oldest president ever inaugurated in January at the age of 78, and will turn 79 in June.
Trump’s physical exams during his first administration raised concerns, especially near the end when they found he was overweight with elevated blood pressure.
Trump has repeatedly attended golf events during the first months of his second presidency. He was present at a golf dinner at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida earlier this month, instead of attending the dignified transfer of four American soldiers who died in Lithuania.
What To Know
Barbabella’s medical summary following Trump’s physical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday has drawn criticism online.
Jonathan Reiner, professor of medicine and surgery at George Washington University, wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “The inclusion of ‘frequent victories in golf events’ suggests that someone in the West Wing may have edited the report. Completely unnecessary and weakens the assessment.”
Aaron Rupar, an independent journalist, wrote on X: “Beyond parody — the White House cites Trump’s ‘frequent victories in golf events’ as evidence of his health.”

In his report, Barbabella also noted:
- Trump’s weight is 224 pounds and he has a resting heart rate of 62 beats per minute.
- He has scaring on his right ear from a gunshot wound, but his hearing is normal.
- He has some minor sun damage to his skin and some benign lesions, but none are of concern.
- The president’s current medications include; Rosuvastatin (cholesterol control), Ezetimibe (cholesterol control), aspirin, and mometasone cream (for skin condition).
- His comprehensive neurological examination revealed no abnormalities.
- A July 2024 colonoscopy revealed diverticulosis and a benign polyp.
The White House releases an annual memo from the president’s physician with details of their physical, and usually cognitive, health.
The memo also provides information about any scheduled surgeries or procedures. Trump is scheduled to undergo a further colonoscopy in 2027.
What People Are Saying
The social media account Trump Tracker wrote on X: “So according to Trump he is the same height and weight as NFL star Taysom Hill.”
Gunther Eagleman, a conservative political commentator, wrote: “Trump’s physical results just came in and he has ‘excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.’ Biden could NEVER!!!”
President Trump told reports on Air Force One on Saturday following his medical: “Overall, I felt I was in very good shape. A good heart, a good soul, a very good soul.”
What Happens Next
The White House is yet to comment on the backlash to the medical report.
Trump is expected to undergo his next annual physical in April next year.
