Elon Musk celebrated putting tens of thousands of Americans out of work and slashing their benefits by laughing and prancing around a stage with a chainsaw.
But now the Ketamine Kid — suffering from the same lack of self-awareness and hypocrisy that has spread like measles through Republicans and MAGA — is whining that Democrats are being mean to him by cheering the demise of his collapsing car company.
Musk — the world’s richest man who is hemorrhaging hundreds of millions each day while being brought to his knees by Americans with cardboard signs — whined to Fox News on Friday that Democratic Sen. Tim Walz was cheering Tesla’s plummeting stock price — and, in turn, Musk’s nosediving bottom line.
“I mean, have you Tim Walz, who is a huge jerk, running on stage with the Tesla stock price that had gone in half and he was overjoyed,“ Musk complained. ”What an evil thing to do. What a creep, what a jerk. Like who derives joy from that?”
Actually, countless of Americans are deriving joy from that:
They’re showing up at town hall meetings to protest Musk — an unelected oligarch — making decisions about their lives and democracy.
They’re protesting at Tesla dealerships from coast to coast — even as President Donald Trump tries to keep the car company afloat, and Attorney General Pam Bondi threatens to jail protesters.
They are demanding that Republican representatives and senators, who have checked themselves into the witness protection program, stop Musk from dismantling the federal government while further enriching himself.
Every day Musk, who’s approval rating is “falling through the floor,” gives non-MAGA Americans another reason to root against him — and Tesla and SpaceX and any other company sucking at the teat of taxpayers.
He has wrongly called Social Security a “Ponzi scheme.” He twice has labeled Sen. Mark Kelly, a U.S. war hero, a “traitor.” He has unleashed a frat house of DOGE derelicts, led by some kid nicknamed “Blue Balls,” to fire — oops! rehire — critical federal employees, like those who maintain the U.S. nuclear arsenal.
But mostly it seems Americans dislike Musk for his willingness to hurt the poor and vulnerable to make himself better off.
According to a recent Yahoo News/YouGov poll, two-thirds of Americans (67%) now say they would not consider buying or leasing a Tesla — and most of those Americans (56%) cite Musk himself as either “the whole reason” (30%) or “part of the reason” (26%) why.
Only 39% of Americans have a favorable opinion of Musk; while 55% have an unfavorable opinion.
A majority of Americans (54%) say Musk has “too much influence” with Trump (up from 39% in November), while only 30% say Musk’s influence is “about right” (down from 36%). The number who say Musk doesn’t have enough influence with Trump (2%) has fallen by half (from 4%).
That cheering you hear is Tim Waltz.
