Duff Goldman Claims He Was Hit By A Drunk Driver
Duff Goldman shared a photo of his busted-up hand, revealing how the injury occurred during the accident.
“On my way home from the airport, I was thinking about what kind of cake I was going to make for my daughter’s birthday,” he began to explain on social media, adding, “Next thing I knew I [was] bleeding and surrounded by airbags.”
That is when he revealed, “A drunk driver had swerved into my lane on a windy country road.”
Luckily, the only injury from the accident was to his hand. “I thanked my lucky stars that I’d still be there to celebrate [my daughter’s] third birthday, even if I couldn’t make her cake. I’m fine, but it’s gonna be a long road to recovery, and for someone like me who makes a living with my hands, you can imagine that this is no joke.”
Fellow celebrity chef Rocco Dispirito commented on the post, “Thank god all is ok,” before joking, “Happy to stand in for birthdays and bar-mitzvahs.”
Chef Amanda Freitag also commented on his post, sharing, “Oh no!!!! I’m so glad you are okay! That’s so scary, sending you lots of love.”
Food Network Star Duff Goldman Involved In Drunk Driving Accident
Following the accident, the Food Network star spoke to PEOPLE, explaining exactly what happened that day.
“I live on a really windy, canyon road in the Santa Monica Mountains, and this guy just came around this corner way too fast,” he told the outlet. “He was already totally in our lane and just smashed into us.”
During the accident, he says time felt as though it slowed down, adding, “I just saw my wife and my daughter. It was nuts.”
“And then boom, the crash happened,” he went on, adding, “I was just doing a systems check, making sure everything was where it was supposed to be, and I see there’s blood all the way down my hand, but nothing else. I was just like, ‘Thank God, thank God.’ Even as I was sitting there dealing with it, I was like, ‘I’m still here.'”
Following the crash, the Food Network star says the other driver “got out of the car and was kind of stumbling around. I was like, ‘Oh, this guy is hurt.’ And then I went over to see if he was all right and held him upright. And I smelled his breath, […] and Man, I was pretty angry.”
On his social media post, the Food Network star stated, “There’s no excuse for driving drunk. None. Uber, taxi, call a friend. No excuse. Stay safe friends, and count your blessings. If you’re drinking, don’t drive, and if you’re driving, don’t drink.”
