Fox Business anchor Dagen McDowell has called out White House officials, accusing them of stonewalling her on multiple requests for someone to speak about the economy and suffering markets.
During a panel discussion about the stock market and reactions to President Donald Trump’s tariffs on Canada and Mexico, McDowell claimed she was being ignored when asking for someone from the administration to talk about the state of the economy.
She called it “shameful” and blasted Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent for hopping on other networks.
“I’m going to go ahead and say this and I wasn’t going to say it. Again, I used to co-host with the Transportation Secretary,” McDowell said on The Big Money Show, referring to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. Duffy and McDowell previously co-hosted The Bottom Line together.
She continued:
“Some of the people in communication at the White House, in the treasury will not respond to the show trying to talk about this economy. They won’t even answer the show, but Scott Bessent goes on one of the lowest rated shows on another network. I mean, you could open the window and shout out of the window in the middle of New York City.”
Charles Gasparino noted that Bessent had recently spoken with Fox Business anchor Larry Kudlow, but McDowell argued this was not enough. Kudlow spoke with Bessent this week at the Economic Club of New York.
“I’m calling them out — like, you know what? The people who work for the Treasury secretaries need to answer a text message. It’s shameful,” McDowell said, adding, “I’ll air dirty laundry all day because I don’t care.”
