ORLANDO, Fla. – An edible mascot resurrected, a trophy with a built-in toaster football – oh and a football game broke out at the Pop-Tarts Bowl in Orlando on Saturday.
You may remember the viral moment in 2023 when Kansas State players appeared to eat the edible mascot after winning the bowl game.
During that game, the mascot — dressed in a large frosted Pop-Tarts costume — was revealed before Kansas went head-to-head against North Carolina State.
Following Kansas State’s victory, the mascot was seen jumping onto a giant toaster while holding a sign reading “DREAMS REALLY DO COME TRUE.”
A giant edible Pop-Tarts pastry then popped out at the bottom of the toaster, with Kansas State chowing down.
“Leave no crumbs,” the Pop-Tarts Bowl posted afterward.

During this year’s game between Miami and Iowa State, an announcer can be heard telling the crowd, “Please direct your attention ladies and gentlemen to the video board for an important presentation.
A graphic played on the board showing a photo of last year’s mascot with the words “In Loving Memory, Friend and Edible Mascot Frosted Strawberry” with the dates Dec. 23, 2023, and Dec. 28. 2023, with a montage of last year’s hijinks.
In a puff of smoke atop the video board, the “eaten” mascot reappeared with Pop-Tarts Bowl officials posting “He is risen!’ on social media.
If that wasn’t wild enough, on Dec. 16, Pop-Tarts Bowl officials and GE appliances announced that the winning team will get to “toast” to victory with the trophy that’s also a working toaster.
Florida Citrus Sports CEO Steve Hogan and Miami Athletic Director Dan Radakovich had the honor of unwrapping the trophy, which was packaged in a Pop-Tarts signature silver wrapper.
The fun continued as three foil-wrapped mascots ran onto the field with officials posting on social media, “Who’s gettin’ toasted tonight?’
The first tart stripped off it’s foil to reveal its identity – “Hot Fudge Sundae” before “Wild Berry” and “Cinnamon Roll” did the same.
“Only one mascot will get toasted and make it mouth heaven at the end of the game,” the announcer could be heard saying.
Iowa State won the game 42-41 and the team celebrated with a Pop-Tarts dump, a fun twist on the Gatorade bath.
And finally, as the Pop-Tarts Bowl social media team put it, “Mouth Heaven gained another angel!” as the Cinnamon Roll Pop-Tart was dropped into the giant toaster and consumed buy the winning Iowa State Cyclone players.
