A proposal is in the works in the Idaho Legislature to rename State Highway 16 the “Charlie Kirk Memorial Highway.” The push comes from the Idaho Family Policy Center, which says the change would honor Kirk’s legacy and highlight concerns over rising political violence.
The planned bill is set to be introduced when the legislative session begins in January. Organizers say the designation is meant to memorialize Kirk and serve as a statement against politically motivated attacks.
Kirk, 31, was fatally shot on September 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
Turning Point USA, the conservative youth group Kirk founded, has an Idaho presence. Student chapters exist at several Gem State institutions.
The proposal has not yet been assigned to a committee, and its fate will largely depend on support from key legislators.
