WASHINGTON (7News) — D.C.-based chef José Andrés and his World Central Kitchen (WCK) organization deployed to Southern California on Tuesday to feed first responders battling the state’s most damaging fires while also supporting the victims, according to the aid group.
Dozens of volunteers in Los Angeles are providing meals to firefighters and other officials helping to battle the intense flames in several parts of the city which have destroyed over 10,000 structures as of Friday morning.

“We cover the needs of the firefighters of the first responders of the police who they don’t stop working and when they have a break to have a piece, a sandwich, an apple, some water, we need to make sure that as they keep moving we’re next to them so when they have that break we can be doing what we should be doing, which is taking care of the first responders that don’t stop working,” Andrés said in an interview.
On social media, Andrés said WCK is also working with food trucks to provide meals to victims.
As of Friday, WCK said it’s providing food at four sites in the Altadena, Pasadena, and La Canada Flintridge areas.
