Following Marvel’s major “Avengers: Doomsday” cast reveal on Wednesday, Paul Rudd — who will be returning in the film as Ant-Man — stopped by “The Tonight Show,” but he wouldn’t give up one single spoiler. As he joked with the NBC host, Marvel is far more secretive than the Trump administration is with military plans.
As Rudd took the stage on Thursday, Fallon immediately went for the Marvel questions, asking if there was anything at all about the movie that Rudd could reveal in terms of story.
“There is nothing that I can tell you. They are very secretive,” Rudd said. “It’s really — it’s important. Clearly, as we know, they never announce anything. This is, you know, it’s a major movie. You can’t be frivolous with this kind of stuff. It’s nothing like, you know, military secrets or anything.”
“This is a major motion picture,” Rudd continued joking, as the audience cracked up.
“It’s not something you put it in a group chat,” Fallon added, spurring Rudd on.
At that, the guest got even more specific, joking that it’s not something easy to give up, like a coordinated attack somewhere in the world, which prompted the host to pull back, apologizing and joking that he didn’t think it was a big deal.
“It’s Marvel, Jimmy, it’s important!” Rudd quipped back.
In case you didn’t catch the actor’s meaning, he was of course referring to Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and other Trump administration members accidentally releasing military plans to an editor — by adding said editor to a group chat unintentionally.
