The new Disneyland 70th anniversary commercial uses a 3D model of Magic Kingdom instead of Disneyland Park.
Disneyland 70 Ad Shows Magic Kingdom
The 30-second ad premiered during the “Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade” special. X user Mouskegamer pointed out the strange park error. A few seconds into the ad, Mickey stands on the compass rose in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle and sends a Disneyland 70 invite flying into the air. As the camera follows the invitation to the sky, viewers see the park obscured by clouds.
Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle and the compass rose are correct but have been clearly copied and pasted into Magic Kingdom. Mouskegamer circled several features unique to the Florida park — Pinocchio Village Haus, Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, the Fantasyland expansion walls, the Hall of Presidents, the Fantasyland/Tomorrowland bridge, and Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe roof.
Around Disneyland’s compass rose are “ramps to nowhere.” These are the ramps that lead to Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom. The Cinderella Castle turrets are also visible in the commercial around the Hub.
For comparison, above is an image of the real area at Disneyland via Google Maps. California’s carousel (King Arthur Carrousel) has a different roof, there’s a walkway instead of a bridge heading towards the Matterhorn instead of Cosmic Ray’s, there are no ramps or turrets around the compass rose, etc.
We don’t know why Disney would use the Magic Kingdom model instead of a Disneyland one, which they surely already have. Clearly, they knew this was Magic Kingdom and not Disneyland, hence the carefully placed clouds and correct castle. Maybe they thought Magic Kingdom looked better.
Disneyland was also recently caught using AI-generated art from Redbubble as a prop in their new Haunted Mansion gift shop.
The Disneyland 70th anniversary celebration will begin in May 2025 and run into the summer of 2026. Mickey and Minnie don new 70th anniversary costumes for the Mickey and Friends Celebrate Happiness! cavalcade. The celebration includes a new “Celebrate Happy” theme song, the debut of Walt Disney – A Magical Life featuring a Walt Disney animatronic, the return of the Paint the Night nighttime parade, and the new World of Color Happiness. The Wondrous Journeys fireworks and “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration parade also return. Sleeping Beauty Castle will be decorated and there will be a Disneyland 70th anniversary merchandise collection.
