Ukrainian intelligence agents from the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) blacked out Russian military-industrial and Armed Forces facilities in Kaliningrad, causing an estimated $5 million in damage, Kyiv Post reports, citing HUR sources.
Kaliningrad, formerly known as Königsberg, was part of Germany’s East Prussia until 1945. Following World War II, the Soviet Union annexed the city and renamed it.

According to the sources, around 4 a.m. on June 14, an attack was carried out on an industrial electrical substation in Kaliningrad. The sabotage completely cut off the power supply to nearby consumers, including Russian military-industrial facilities and Armed Forces units in the area.
“The losses for Russia as a result of the sabotage amount to nearly $5 million,” the source said.
The agents reportedly drained coolant from the substation’s power transformer and then set the facility on fire.
The resulting blaze severely damaged the substation and led to a sustained power outage for nearby military facilities and enterprises.
“Russia no longer has a rear – neither in the east, nor in the west, nor anywhere on the planet. Everything Russian involved in the war against Ukraine will burn, sink, and be destroyed regardless of its protection or location,” the source added.

Over the course of Poland’s brutal presidential campaign, anti-Ukrainian narratives emerged. Will Poland, once a safe haven for them, become an unfriendly country?
In late April, the HUR reported the destruction of a Russian Su-30SM fighter jet in what it described as a successful sabotage operation. A video showed the jet burning on the runway, with HUR stating that the aircraft had been destroyed at the Rostov-on-Don Central airfield.
According to the agency, Ukrainian saboteurs infiltrated the site and set the plane on fire. The jet was estimated to be worth approximately $50 million.
HUR chief Kyrylo Budanov confirmed the operation, saying the Su-30SM had been actively used by Russia in airstrikes against Ukraine and was now eliminated directly at the Rostov airfield.
This was not the first such incident. In mid-December 2024, HUR agents also carried out a sabotage mission in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, a region bordering the Black and Azov Seas. That operation resulted in the destruction of another Russian Su-30 fighter jet and the disabling of three locomotives.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, the December strike took place at an airfield in the town of Krymsk, where the targeted jet was set ablaze. Video footage from the scene was also released at the time.
