WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) wrote a letter to Chairman-elect Rand Paul of the Senate Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday.
Senator Hawley’s letter outlines demands for the Biden Administration to be held accountable following the New Year 2024 terrorist-linked attack on New Orleans’ Bourbon Street.
“When the 119th Congress convenes next week, and you assume leadership of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, I urge you to immediately call Mayorkas and Wray to publicly testify prior to their departure from office,” Senator Hawley wrote. “They must give a full account of this attack and any departmental failures related to the incident.”
Senator Hawley alleged that Mayorkas and Wray have been “skipping out on hearings for months” and argued that “Until January 20, the American people remain at risk unless the outgoing administration is held to account for policy changes that have made this country less safe.”
