Celebrate the grand festival season by making decadent dry fruits barfi at home. Chef Kunal Kapur shared a recipe for this dessert.

• 3/4 cup almonds • 3/4 cup cashews • 1l milk • 1 cup sugar • 1/4 cup roasted sesame seeds • 1/2 dry desiccated coconut • 1 tsp black cardamom seeds • A handful of pistachios • A handful of dried rose petals

• Boil almonds and cashews in water and cook for 1-2 minutes. Strain the boiled dry fruits and wash them in running water. Peel almonds.

• Boil 750ml milk till it reduces to half. Meanwhile, mix dry fruits and 250 ml milk to get a fine and smooth paste.

• Next, add sugar to reduced milk. Pour milk and dry fruit mixture gradually and keep stirring. Continue stirring, cooking, and scraping sides till a thick mixture is formed.

• Add roasted sesame seeds and dry desiccated coconut and mix everything well. Once the milk mixture gets dense completely, turn off the gas.

• Spread the freshly cooked mawa evenly on a mould lined with butter paper. Once it cools down, keep it inside a fridge for 30 minutes.

• Next, garnish it with black cardamom seeds, chopped pistachios, and dried rose petals.

Cut the homemade sweet into cubes gently and delicious dry fruits barfi is ready to be served.
