Best Oils For Deep Frying 

Gastroenterologist Saurabh Sethi took to Instagram to share which cooking oil is best for deep frying food.

Not The Best Cooking Method

He starts the video by saying that deep frying is not the healthiest cooking method but for occasional use, he has 4 cooking oil recommendations.

1. Refined Coconut Oil

Since it's rich in saturated fats and  has a high smoke point of  400 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Refined Olive Oil

This oil is rich in monounsaturated  fats and has a high smoke point of  465 degrees Fahrenheit.

Extra virgin olive oil is not a good choice for deep frying as it has a relatively low smoke point and potentially creates harmful compounds.

3. Ghee/Clarified Butter

With a high smoke point of 450  degrees Fahrenheit, ghee is a  good option for deep frying.

It has a high smoke point of 520  degrees Fahrenheit, making it a  food option for deep frying.

Oils To Avoid

According to gastroenterologist Saurabh Sethi, seed oils like sunflower, soybean, and canola should be avoided.  These oils are high in polyunsaturated fats and tend to oxidise at high temperatures.
