Saudi coffee is a fragrant, spiced brew made with lightly roasted Arabica beans, cardamom, and sometimes saffron, served in small cups.
3 cups water 3 tablespoons lightly roasted Arabica coffee beans, coarsely ground 1 teaspoon ground cardamom 1/2 teaspoon saffron (optional) 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves (optional) 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger (optional) 1/4 teaspoon rose water (optional) Dates or dried fruit for serving
Bring 3 cups of water to a boil in a pot.
Add the coarsely ground coffee beans to the boiling water.
Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally
Add the ground cardamom, saffron, cloves, and ginger to the coffee. Stir well.
Let the mixture simmer for another 5 minutes to infuse the flavors. Remove the pot from heat and strain the coffee.
Serve the coffee in small cups, traditionally with dates or dried fruit on the side.
