- 2 to 3 tbsp of oil - 3/4 tsp of mustard seeds (optional) - 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds (optional) - few curry leaves - 6 to 7 large garlic cloves - 1 large onion (or 2 small) - 1 small tomato - 1 cup of soaked masoor dal - salt - turmeric - red chilli powder - garam masala - coriander powder - coriander leaves - Kasuri methi (optional) - hot water as needed

First, soak the masoor dal in water and let it soften.

Then, add oil, mustard seeds, jeera, garlic, chopped onion and curry leaves into a pan and let it temper.

After the onion caramelises, add salt, the spice powders and chopped tomatoes keep mixing.

Add the masoor dal to the mixture and pour a little water to bind the bhaji. Close the lid of the vessel and let it cook in its own steam.

Finally, finish off with fresh coriander and your Masoor Dalichi Bhaji is ready!
