Quick And Easy

Quick and easy to prepare, Kichadi is a staple in the traditional Onam Sadhya spread.

Ingredients

- 1 big cucumber   - 1 cup thick curd   - Salt to taste   - 1 green chilli   - 1/4 cup grated coconut   - 1/4 teaspoon jeera (cumin seeds)  - 2 teaspoons coconut oil   - 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds   - 2 dried red chillies   - A small sprig of curry leaves

Wash, peel, deseed, and chop the cucumber into bite-sized cubes.

Step 1

Boil the cucumber with salt in a kadai until dry, then set aside.

Step 2

Grind the chilli, coconut and jeera into a semi-coarse paste and sauté with cucumber until the raw smell disappears.

Mix whisked curd with the cucumber, temper in coconut oil, add seasoning, adjust salt, and serve kichadi chilled with rice.
