Mumbai Metro Line 3: City's 1st Underground Metro To Be Inaugurated By PM Modi

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL) is set to inaugurate the city's first underground metro line, Phase I of the Metro 3 corridor, in early October.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open the 12km stretch, which includes 10 stations and has cost approximately ₹38,000 crore.

The full 33km corridor will connect Mumbai's southern, central, and western regions, enhancing overall urban mobility.

Upon completion, the line will operate between Colaba and SEEPZ, covering the journey in about one hour.

The first phase is planned to be operational next month, whilst the second phase could start by 2025.

MMRCL anticipates that both phases of the project will serve approximately 1.7 million commuters daily.
