Cabbage thoran is a wonderfully hands-off dish, making it perfect for any traditional meal.

Ingredients

-3 cups finely chopped cabbage -1/2 cup grated coconut thawed, if frozen -1-2 green chillies minced -1/2 tsp cumin seeds -1/4 cup shallots or red onion minced -1/4 tsp turmeric powder -A few curry leaves -2 teaspoons coconut oil -1/4 teaspoon black mustard seeds

In a bowl, mix cabbage, coconut, green chillies, shallots or onion, turmeric powder, salt, curry leaves, and cumin seeds.

Step 1

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, and allow them to pop.

Add the cabbage mixture to the pan, stir well, and pat it down firmly into a mound.

Cover and cook on low heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Once the cabbage is soft but not mushy, adjust salt and remove from heat.
