Baker Shivesh Bhatia took to Instagram to share a drool-worthy recipe of Crème Brûlée French Toast - basically combining the flavours of the two best things in the world - and it is a must-try!
For The Custard 2 tbsp custard powder + 1/4 cup milk 3/4 cup milk 2 tbsp sugar 2 slices of brioche bread Sugar For The French Toast Batter 1/2 cup +2 tbsp milk 1 tbsp custard powder 1 tbsp icing sugar 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
1. Mix 2 tbsp of custard powder with 1/4 cup milk to make a custard slurry. 2. Then, in a pan, add 3/4 cup of milk, 2 tbsp of sugar & the custard slurry. 3. Cook till you get a thick and smooth mixture. Take it off the heat & let it cool.
4. Take two slices of brioche bread and cut out the centre of one of the slices.
5. Now, for the French toast batter, take some milk, 1 tbsp of custard powder, 1 tbsp of icing sugar, and 1/4 tsp of cinnamon powder. Mix it all together. 6. Then, soak the bread slices in this batter on both sides.
7. Grease the pan with some butter and place it on low-medium heat. 8. Once the pan is hot, place the soaked bread pieces over it and cook it from both sides till it's golden brown.
9. To assemble the toast, place the whole slice of bread first, then place the slice with the cut-out centre on top of it and fill it with the custard.
10. Then, sprinkle sugar on top of it and brûlée it with a kitchen torch until it’s golden.
And that’s it! Your Crème Brûlée French Toast is ready to be served and enjoyed!
