CINCINNATI (WKRC) — Wendy’s is offering a $1 Frosty deal to fight back against McDonald’s broken ice cream machines.
If you’ve ever tried to order ice cream at McDonald’s, there’s a chance you were met with a broken ice cream machine and no sweet treat.
Customer frustrations with McDonald’s ice cream machines became so intense that one decided to create McBroken.com, a website that tracks which McDonald’s ice cream machines are broken across the USA, Canada, and even some European countries.
Wendy’s announced on Wednesday that it would be partnering with the outage website to reach customers who want a cold dessert but can’t get one from McDonald’s.
“Using data from McBroken.com, Wendy’s saw that dessert fans are faced with ice cream machine outages all too often and knew just what the fix was — a Frosty!” the company said in a press release.
“Wendy’s is showing up for fans across the country with delicious, reliable Frosty treats – available for only $1 for a small nationwide now through September 30.”
According to data from McBroken.com referenced by Wendy’s, the “other guys” face most of their ice cream machine issues from 11 a.m. through 3 p.m. and the problems typically last two or three hours.
McBroken.com now features all Wendy’s locations as well, so customers can “navigate to their nearest Wendy’s restaurant” directly from the site.
