PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Bundle sells out in seconds
Released on September 26 and going live first in the UK, the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Bundle comes in at a jaw-dropping £960. As only 12,300 units are available worldwide, you can imagine demand will be high. It’s for this reason that the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Bundle reportedly sold out in seconds in the UK.
With orders yet to go live in the USA, expect there to be a similarly mad dash to the checkouts. Pricing is yet to be revealed, but with the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Bundle costing £960 in the UK, €1100 in Europe, and $1200 in Australia, it’ll be similarly pricey in the USA – if you can get one through the official site.
For that, you get a limited edition console that honours the OG PlayStation, as well as limited edition versions of the DualSense Edge wireless controller, DualSense wireless controller, DualSense charging station, disc drive console cover, vertical stand, PlayStation controller-style cable connector housing, PlayStation shapes cable ties, a sticker, a poster, and a PlayStation paperclip. You can’t forget the paperclip.
The official PlayStation site states, “This special version of the PS5 Pro console and accompanying accessories feature throwback design elements and a legacy colour scheme that pays homage to the legendary original PlayStation console,” reiterating that each is “individually numbered as a collector’s item.”
As you can imagine, it didn’t take long for the scalpers to swoop in. One listing on eBay already has the bundle up for £5,500. Given that 13 people already watching it, and with it looking like it’s coming from a reputable collectibles shop, this is pure madness that might even sell for that price.
Remembering that these are collector’s items rather than a standard console will likely have bumped up their popularity, but if the standard PS5 Pro sells anything like this, Sony could be looking at a healthy 2024. There were concerns that the PS5 Pro’s record-breaking price tag would put people off, but that might not be the case.
At the time of writing, even the PS One-inspired DualSense is sold out on Amazon, showing just how popular these gaming throwbacks are. While the 30th Anniversary Bundle looks like it could become one of the most lucrative gaming investments of all time, there’s the small problem of getting your hands on one without taking out a mortgage.
