The Dallas Cowboys have received rough news on their star quarterback Dak Prescott.
Prescott is expected to miss multiple weeks due to his hamstring injury, a person familiar with the injury confirmed to The Dallas Morning News. The quarterback was scheduled to receive an MRI on Monday.
During a news conference, head coach Mike McCarthy said Cooper Rush will be the starting quarterback moving forward.

Prescott left the Cowboys’ 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons Sunday after injuring the hamstring on his right leg in the third quarter. Backup Cooper Rush played in his place for the entirety of the fourth quarter. Prescott finished 18 for 24 with 133 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for 30 yards on three scrambles.
Prescott said he felt a pull after a scramble and thought it would go away. But it got worse several plays later when he attempted a pass toward receiver Jalen Brooks.
“Tough to walk on it at that point,” Prescott said after the game. “Saw the medical team and I asked could I make it worse, and at that point they said I wouldn’t be able to protect myself and made the call.”
In Rush’s short stint replacing Prescott, he went 13 of 25 passing for 115 yards and a touchdown. In 2022, Rush won four of five games subbing for Prescott, who missed five games with a fractured thumb.
Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb also joined the team’s growing list of injured players, suffering a sprained AC joint in his shoulder during Sunday’s loss.
However, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Lamb’s injury is not considered serious and he has a chance to play on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
