LEGO 10335 The Endurance set for a Black Friday 2024 release!

LEGO has officially unveiled 10335 The Endurance, a gorgeous LEGO ship model that pays homage to Sir Ernest Shackleton’s famous Trans-Antarctic Expedition from 1914-1917.

This 3,011-piece model will be released exclusively on LEGO.com and LEGO Stores on Black Friday 2024, which falls on 29 November 2024. Fans who purchase 10335 The Endurance from 29 November – 2 December 2024 will also receive the 40729 Shackleton’s Lifeboat GWP (gift with purchase) while stocks last.

It’s a pretty substantial model (although nowhere near Titanic-sized), measuring 47 cm (18.5 in.) high, 80 cm (31.5 in.) long and 24 cm (9.5 in.) wide

The set will definitely appeal to history enthusiasts, and model ship fans and looks really stunning on display. Most of all, I love the potential of this being an excellent vehicle to expose the story of Sir Ernest Shackleton, and his dramatic expedition to across cross Antarctica from coast to coast via the South Pole, a feat that had never been attempted before.

It’s a remarkable feat of perseverance, as Endurance became trapped in ice in early 1915 and for nearly a year, the ship drifted with the ice until the immense pressure eventually crushed it, forcing the crew to abandon the vessel.

Shackleton and his crew then had to camp on ice, drifting for months, taking the lifeboats to somehow make it to the the inhospitable Elephant Island before making an 800-mile open-boat journey across the stormy Southern Ocean to reach South Georgia Island, where they were able to organize a rescue for the rest of the crew. Somehow, all 28 men survived!
