The Aston Martin Vantage name has been around in some capacity since the 1950s when it was offered as an upgrade option for the DB2. The Vantage then became a distinct model in the early ’70s for a limited 71-vehicle production run. After five decades, the nameplate is still around, now with V8 and V12 versions.
For the 2025 model year, the British marque has unveiled a convertible Roadster variant of the V8 Vantage with impeccable balance and a super quick folding roof.
2025 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster Basics
While there have been Vantage Roadsters for past models, the 2025 version is impressive simply because the standard V8 Vantage is so impressive. Like its non-convertible counterpart, the Roadster features the same exterior design language and is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine mated to an 8-speed rear-mounted automatic transmission and delivering 656hp and 590lb.ft of torque (up from 503hp and 505lb.ft from previous versions). The vehicle also has a 0-to-60 time of just 3.5 seconds and a 202-mph top speed.
Because of the additional structural reinforcements to accommodate the folding top, convertibles in general often weigh more than their hardtop counterparts. As such, the new Vantage Roadster’s weight difference is nominal at merely 132lbs thanks to an aluminum structure and composite body panels, with an impressive front-to-rear weight distribution ratio at 49:51, shifting weight towards the rear to aid the race-inspired double-wishbone suspension in front.
Carrying over the wider body of the Coupe version, along with the updated headlights, larger grill, and new side vents, the vehicle also rides on bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tires and 410mm carbon ceramic brakes. For optimizing your road experience, the vehicle has an octet of traction control options from the Advanced Traction Control system previously used for the Vantage Coupe.
New Roof, Who Dis?
Utilizing a Z-fold configuration (“which is both faster and lighter than a traditional K-fold roof”) that stows the roof behind the rear seats, the Roadster saves weight and lowers the center of gravity by removing the requirement for a tonneau cover. Drivers will be able to open and close the soft-top at speeds up to 31mph, with the entire process taking a mere 6.8 seconds. Aston Martin claims this to be the “fastest fully-automatic deployable roof mechanism on the market today.” Heck, even at 10 seconds, it feels gratuitously quick. If you so choose, you can also open and close the roof within 2m of the car from the key fob.
The marque also guarantees a proper level of durability and protection, with “no fewer than” eight levels of insulation to protect the interior from temperatures and sound. While the exterior bodywork adds three new color options (Iridescent Sapphire, Satin Iridescent Sapphire, and Bronze Flare), the roof itself is offered in black, red, blue, and black-and-silver.
