Guy Fieri has upgraded from the Mayor of Flavortown to the Superhero of Flavortown.
DC Comics announced that the celebrity chef is joining its comic book universe in Batman/Superman: World’s Finest issue #37 on Tuesday, March 18. On Wednesday, March 19, readers can snag a new comic book featuring the Food Network star.
Fieri is front and center on the cover of the special cameo and in his usual garb: black T-shirt, glitzy chain necklaces, sunglasses and bleach-blonde hair. He is leaning a tatted arm out of a shiny red car, reminiscent of the introduction to his Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives episodes.
Batman slurping on a neon green milkshake and Superman taking a bite out of a burger are flying over Fieri’s head. Plus, artist Dan Mora added a sign in the background of the aforementioned Food Network series and another Las Vegas-inspired “Welcome to Flavortown” billboard.
Other celebrities like Paul McCartney, Nicolas Cage and Jerry Seinfeld have gotten a similar treatment as stars of different Batman/Superman issues.
The Tournament of Champions host recently revealed to Stephen Colbert that his “Flavortown” catchphrase, which inspired details of his comic book, was purely accidental.

On Wednesday, Feb. 26 on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Fieri explained, “‘Flavortown’ was this mythical place that [I’d go] every time I’d try something really great.”
He recalled that he first used the phrase on TV when talking about a big pizza. “[I] said, ‘Look at this thing! It’s like the steering wheel on the bus going to Flavortown.’ That’s all I said! I said it a couple of other times about ‘a manhole cover in Flavortown,’ and then people started walking up in airports, going, ‘Hey! Flavortown!’ And then, someone yelled at me, ‘It’s the Mayor of Flavortown!’” he said.
Fieri had to ask his film crew for clarity on what was going on and they told him, “You keep repeating this Flavortown thing.”
