Harrisburg legend and multiple time All-Pro running back LeSean McCoy is just about over the Pittsburgh Steelers’ pursuit of Aaron Rodgers. McCoy compared the Steelers to the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns in a rant earlier this week.
“This is the first time, I got to be honest, that the Pittsburgh Steelers look like an incompetent franchise,” McCoy said on FS1’s “The Facility.” “You go out there, spend $125 million on a superstar wide receiver with no quarterback. What are we doing here? Is this the Steelers or is this the Jets? Is this the Browns? Is this the Colts. I’m disappointed with the Steelers franchise, what they’re doing right now.”
Rodgers is still stringing along at least two teams, and with the Minnesota Vikings reportedly bowing out of the sweepstakes, it at least seems to expedite the process. Yet, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Rodgers is in no rush at all to decide where he wants to go.
“Nothing related to Minnesota has altered Aaron Rodgers’ timeline. One source monitoring Rodgers’ potential decision about the 2025 season said this morning that the free-agent QB still “is in no rush at all,” Schefter wrote.
Rodgers has two clear landing spots, but if he does not like any of those spots, the 41-year-old does not have to keep playing. That can not be ruled out, but the Steelers seem content in waiting Rodgers out at this point.
The Giants’ offer is said to be more lucrative, but that does not mean he will jump at their offer. For the Steelers, they are recruiting Rodgers, but have backup plans in the case he does not sign with them, including the idea that Mason Rudolph could start.
