A marked improvement in performance has been observed in the total sales of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd in September, which has grown by 24.4% compared to the previous year. The total sales of vehicles have reached 2,36,013 units in the month, according to official disclosures made by the country’s leading carmaker. That reflects a significant improvement over the 1,89,665 units that the automaker had recorded a month earlier. These total figures include all sales channels, including domestic market sales, international export sales, and sales to other original equipment manufacturers in other regions.
Primary engine and strong performance
This impressive top-line growth was driven largely by the domestic market for the passenger vehicle product, which more than doubled year-on-year. In terms of total domestic passenger car sales, the figure increased by almost 37 percent, reaching 1,81,838 units from the 1,32,820 units witnessed in the previous year’s same month.
If the passenger car sales are combined with the company’s light commercial vehicle sales, then the total domestic sales of Maruti Suzuki stands at 1,85,252 units for the month compared to 1,35,711 units witnessed in the corresponding month of the previous year.
The domestic passenger cars segment, which includes mini, compact and mid-sized cars, showed strong growth momentum for the month. The overall sales of this large range, which includes popular variants like Alto, Baleno, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Ignis, S-Presso, Swift and WagonR, rose drastically.
The figures increased to 91,887 for the combined category last month, from 74,090 in September 2025. This uptick underscores continuing strong demand for the company’s foundational range of hatchback and sedan models.
Substantial surge and reported growth
A prominent feature of Maruti Suzuki’s September performance was the accelerated demand in its utility vehicle segment. Sales of utility vehicles, which include the Brezza, the Ertiga, the e Vitara, the Fronx, the Grand Vitara, the Invicto, the Jimny, the Victoris, and the XL6 rose to 78,911 units for the month.
That’s a significant increase over the 48,695 units sold in the same time period last year, a time when consumers appeared to be craving sport utility vehicles and multi-purpose passenger vehicles. The van segment continued its steady ascent, with the Eeco van posting a sales volume of 11,040 among the approximately 10,035 during September 2025.
In addition to passenger cars and utility models, Maruti Suzuki saw significant improvement in its commercial transport and shipments into and from international markets. Sales across the light commercial vehicle market rose in September, with the Super Carry model posting 3,414 units, the most significant gain from the 2,891 units recorded in the same period of the previous year.
The company also benefited from international shipments on the global trading market. Total exports reached 44,219 units, up from 42,204 in September last year, showing ongoing demand from international markets and strong domestic market demand.
Conclusion
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has posted decent year-over-year gains in operational performance on total sales at 23,6013 in September, which was an improvement of 24.4%. The detailed results show that the growth is widespread, as the domestic delivery of passenger vehicles increased by nearly 37%, and demand for UVs, compact cars and overseas exports kept improving. The company’s latest results highlight continued market strength and strong underlying consumer demand in several product areas, as the company has seen traction across passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and overseas markets.
