Fox News’ chief political anchor Bret Baier will interview President Donald Trump as part of the network’s Super Bowl LIX pregame coverage, the network announced Monday.
The high-profile sit-down, recorded at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, will air during the 3 p.m. ET hour on Sunday, February 9, with additional excerpts airing on Special Report with Bret Baier the following day.
The interview marks Baier’s first one-on-one with Trump since June 2023 and comes as the president approaches the 100-day milestone of his return to the White House. According to Fox News, the conversation will focus on the administration’s early policies and the political landscape heading into 2025.
Baier, one of Fox News’ most seasoned political journalists, played a leading role in the network’s Democracy 2024 election coverage, co-anchoring major political events from the conventions to election night. Last year, he interviewed Vice President Kamala Harris. At the time, Trump attacked Baier for what he said was a “soft” interview with his Democratic rival. Baier also conducted a town hall meeting with Trump and moderated key debates.
Interviews with the sitting president by the network hosting the Super Bowl have been a fixture for the last two decades until Trump opted not to sit down during in his first term, which was used as precedent when former President Joe Biden did the same.
In the past, in Super Bowl interviews with the sitting president on Fox, the task was left to opinion hosts like Bill O’Reilly or Sean Hannity, though Baier interviewed Trump when he was a candidate in 2023.
Baier’s interview will provide Trump with a massive platform on one of the biggest TV days of the year ahead of Fox’s Super Bowl pregame show, expected to draw millions of viewers.
