File this one under “headlines I never thought I’d write.” Popular baby brand Frida is celebrating the launch of the new Frida Mom 2-in-1 Manual Breast Pump by giving everyone a taste of what breast milk tastes like. Sound weird? Well, it is. But not as weird as it might seem.
The brand is launching breast milk flavored ice cream (they’ve assured us that it doesn’t actually contain any real breast milk) in nine months—how fitting! It’s meant to mimic the “sweet, creamy” taste of breast milk. Who knew?
Apparently, breast milk is trending (didn’t know something so natural and integral to all of human history could become a trend but here we are). Bravo TV’s Paige DeSorbo recently tried the breast milk of her castmate Lindsay Hubbard, Kourtney Kardashian drinks her own for its touted health benefits, and even model Ashley Graham has admitted to having a taste.
And, according to studies, 70% of women have tried their own breast milk, while 29% of men are interested in trying it themselves. There are even Reddit threads dedicated to the topic, with some commenters stating that it tastes like “milk left in a bowl of sugary cereal.” Others liken it to warm vanilla ice cream, chai tea, and sweet almond milk. Perhaps Frida is on to something here.
To tap into the curiosity, Frida is bringing breast milk-flavored ice cream to the public. “The ice cream will be a pitch perfect representation of the sweet, creamy, nutrient packed goodness we’ve all wanted to try but have been afraid to ask and will include some of its same nutrients including fats (Omega-3 brain fuel!), carbs (energy-boosting lactose), important vitamins (iron, calcium, Vitamin B and D, and zinc), plus lots of H2O for hydration,” the brand stated.
Like any expecting mother, you’ll have to wait nine long months in order to get a taste of this new bundle of joy. For those who have a hankering for a non-traditional type of milk, you can sign up to stay “abreast” of the situation on Frida’s website.
Now we just have to wait for all the reviews comparing it to the real thing…
