Instead of bringing the entire cast of the Russo brothers’ upcoming Marvel Studios movie Avengers: Doomsday onstage at CinemaCon, the studio has opted for a live five-hour social media stunt during which it announced the cast via the actors’ on-set chairs. Why do we still think there’s a ton of people who haven’t been announced?
The biggest news is that the announcement made it certain that 20th Century Fox/Marvel’s X-Men part of the franchise are coming back, read Patrick Stewart aka Charles Xavier (didn’t he die in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?). Ian McKellen aka Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn who portrayed Mystique, James Marsden aka Cyclops and Kelsey Grammer who played Beast in the Fox Marvel movies is back as well. Oh, and Gambit himself, meaning Channing Tatum, is also in for the fun. We saw him last in Deadpool & Wolverine.
These names today are just confirmations. We’ve known for a while that the whole MCU gang and those new to Marvel, i.e. The Fantastic Four: First Steps foursome –Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/Thing) are boarding the big Avengers movie, which is rolling cameras in London.
