Fox News host Mark Levin launched a scathing attack on Chief Justice John Roberts on Wednesday, accusing him of siding with “unelected judges” and demanding a constitutional fix that would allow President Donald Trump to act without legal restrictions.
Fox News host Mark Levin took aim at Chief Justice John Roberts on Wednesday after Roberts issued a rare statement criticizing President Donald Trump. The Chief Justice said it was “not appropriate” for Trump to call for the impeachment of a federal judge. Levin Accused Roberts of siding with “unelected judges” and demanded “a constitutional fix” that would allow Trump to act without legal restrictions.
“I would say that John Roberts, who I knew before he was a judge when we both worked in the Reagan administration — it’s time to grow a pair, judge,” Levin said on Fox News’ The Story with Martha MacCallum.
Levin’s fury came after Roberts spoke out against Trump’s attack on U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg. The judge had blocked the expulsion of hundreds of immigrants to a prison in El Salvador over the weekend. The Trump administration had tried to send immigrants, allegedly tied to Venezuelan gangs, back to El Salvador, though officials didn’t provide much evidence. Despite the ruling, the deportation flights continued, leading to a legal battle that has heated up in recent days.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt joined in, calling Judge Boasberg a “Democratic activist” despite the judge’s past rulings in Trump’s favor.
In his rant, Levin criticized what he called a “judicial oligarchy” of unelected judges who have repeatedly challenged the president on issues like border security and immigration. He later responded to MacCallum’s question about what the Supreme Court should do next, bringing up a recent case where a judge ordered the Trump administration to pay about $2 billion in foreign aid to humanitarian groups. Levin wondered aloud how so many “unelected” judges could block Trump’s policies.
“The problem is when the branches of government don’t stay separate,” Levin continued, citing past warnings from philosophers like John Locke and political figures like Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. “You get tyranny,” he said. “And I don’t care about what John Roberts pronounces from the bench. Do your job, Chief Justice of the United States. Don’t get into the political fight. Fix it.”
Levin ended by saying that if Roberts didn’t fix things, America could lose its constitutional balance, or Congress might have to step in to fix it.
