GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – The University of Florida Men’s Basketball team plays in the NCAA National Championship on Monday night and Gainesville city officials are preparing for all possibilities.
Monday, city public works employees were seen greasing light poles near the university. In prior years, some Gators fans have been seen climbing poles during celebrations.

City officials hope to prevent the dangerous stunt by applying a slippery coating to the poles.
Officials will also block roads near the university and downtown Gainesville where crowds are expected.
The match between Florida and Houston starts at 8:50 p.m. ET in San Antonio, Texas.
