$1 from every sale of a case of Neighborhood Beer will go towards funding micro-grants for community projects in Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska.
IOWA CITY, Iowa — An Iowa brewing staple has launched its brand-new lager, and there’s a lot more to love than just the taste.
Big Grove Brewery launched its new Neighborhood Beer in early March. It’s the brewery’s first lager.
“It’s gonna be very light, clean, crisp when it comes to it, but very similar to your American light domestics when it comes to it as well,” Big Grove’s Devin Walton said.
But the Neighborhood name isn’t just for show. Big Grove recently launched a micro-grant program designed to help fund community projects across Iowa, Illinois, and Nebraska. $1 from every sale of a case of Neighborhood Beer will go towards funding those grants.
“If that’s putting in a pollinator garden in your neighborhood, if it’s cleaning up a park, anything that would better your community and your neighbors, you can put an application, and it’s for anybody, so it doesn’t have to you,” Mikala Demet with Big Grove said. “It can be a nonprofit or community group, but you could also be an individual yourself just looking to help your community.”
Grant amounts will range in value from $250 to $1,000. You can learn more about Big Grove’s micro-grants and apply here.
Armored Gardens will hold a block party on Thursday, April 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. to celebrate the beer’s release in the Quad Cities.
