One I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! campmate was in for a terrifying welcome to the show when an enormous snake slid into his shorts.
Just watching the scene unfold from the comfort of our sofas gave us the heebie-jeebies!
The latest series of the ITV reality programme has kicked off with a fresh batch of celebrity contestants getting accustomed to camp life.
After arriving Down Under, McFly bandmate Danny Jones found an unlikely creature, er, down under while taking part in the series’ first challenge.
As he joined boxing legend Barry McGuigan in the Mausoleum of Misery, the duo were tasked with making their way through locked chambers in which they had to find the codes to unlock five padlocks – with five stars up for grabs.
This being I’m A Celebrity, of course, Danny and Barry weren’t alone in the mausoleum as they were joined by several snakes slithering between them.
Danny got very acquainted with the reptiles, as one cheeky snake slithered into his shorts during the challenge.
‘I’ve got a snake up my shorts!’ Danny yelled, with host Declan Donnelly remarking:’That is what’s known here as a trouser snake’.
An animal handler came in to assist Danny as he pulled down his shorts to reveal the large reptile nestled in there.
Danny and Barry join the likes of Coleen Rooney, former Strictly professional Oti Mabuse, and Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall in the jungle.
The Obviously hitmaker has become a favourite to win this year’s show, topping bookies’ odds and also convincing former Pointless host Richard Osman.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Rest is Entertainment, he laid out the reasons he believes the singer will be crowned King Of The Jungle, following in the footsteps of bandmate Dougie Poynter.
‘There is a behemoth which has strode across British popular culture for nearly 20 years now and every single thing that anyone involved with this project does is an enormous, huge, wonderful, life-affirming hit,’ he said.
‘Danny Jones was on the Masked Singer, which he won. Dougie Poynter went on I’m A Celeb, which he won. Harry Judd went on Strictly Come Dancing, which he won.
‘Now, Tom Fletcher went on Strictly and didn’t win, so that’s a rare misstep for the McFly boys. But he has written 10 UK number one singles – and even though he didn’t win Strictly, his wife Giovanna Fletcher won I’m A Celebrity.’
Richard continued: ‘There is nothing the McFly boys cannot do. Every single time they turn their hand to anything, they absolutely nail it. Danny Jones, to me, feels like he’s going to be the champion of this show.’
However, some fans have claimed influencer GK Barry as their winner following her epic meltdown during her first challenge.
GK, real name Grace Keeling, was paired with fellow Loose Women panellist Jane Moore as they were tasked to thrust their hands into boxes of unseen creatures.
But she did not cope well, crying and squealing within minutes of the task beginning, much to the delight of viewers who dubbed the moment ‘iconic.’
I’m A Celebrity airs daily at 9pm on ITVX.
