COLUMBUS, OH — Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose has unveiled a new online portal allowing the public to access daily voter registration data, a major step in the continued implementation of Ohio’s landmark DATA Act.
The portal, available at OhioSoS.gov/Data, provides real-time updates on voter registration changes across the state’s 88 counties, including new registrations, modifications, and removals. Ohio law mandates that each county board of elections generates a daily voter registration record at 4 p.m.
“Transparency earns trust, and I’ll continue working to make Ohio’s elections the most transparent in the nation,” LaRose stated. “Even with our decentralized election system, we are ensuring greater uniformity and public confidence in the process.”
Building on the DATA Act’s Success
Passed in 2023, the DATA Act made Ohio the first state to standardize election record retention and analysis. The law also established the Office of Data Analytics and Archives, which is responsible for publishing election data for audits and long-term analysis.
With the 2024 presidential election approaching, LaRose has introduced several initiatives to further transparency and election integrity, including:
- The Data Integrity Program
- The Ohio Absentee and Early Voting Data Dashboard
- Annual Audits of the Statewide Voter Registration Database
- A Nationwide Push for Modernized Election Data Sharing
In addition to internal data verification efforts, LaRose encourages the public to review the data and report any inconsistencies for prompt investigation.
“Our Office of Data Analytics and Archives has revolutionized election administration in Ohio,” LaRose said. “This tool will strengthen trust in our elections and set a new standard for transparency in 2025 and beyond.”
Leaders Applaud Ohio’s Efforts
Election policy experts and officials praised the initiative as a model for other states:
- Ken Blackwell, Chairman of the Center for Election Integrity at the America First Policy Institute and former Ohio Secretary of State:
“LaRose is delivering on his promise of transparency and accountability. Ohio’s leadership on election data should be a model for the nation.” - Matthew Weil, Executive Director of the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Democracy Program:
“Ohio’s DATA Act is a major step toward standardizing election data, making comparisons easier and strengthening evidence-based policymaking.” - Jason Snead, Executive Director of the Honest Elections Project:
“Ohio has set the bar for election transparency. LaRose’s efforts are building public trust and creating a system other states should replicate.”
With these advancements, Ohio continues to position itself as a leader in election integrity, ensuring voters have access to real-time, accurate information on the state’s electoral process.
