A Philadelphia man was indicted for threatening to kill a state political party worker who was recruiting poll watchers, the Justice Department said.
According to the federal indictment unsealed Monday, John C. Pollard, 62, sent messages threatening to “kill” and “skin” an unidentified victim.
The victim, an employee of an unidentified state political party, had been posting on social media trying to recruit volunteers to serve as poll watchers on Nov. 5.
Pollard expressed interest in being a poll worker and texted the individual that “I will KILL YOU IF YOU DON’T ANSWER ME!” and “GONNA F***ING FIND YOU AND SKIN YOU ALIVE AND USE YOUR SKIN FOR F***ING TOILET PAPER,” according to the indictment.
Pollard, who was arrested Monday, is charged with one count of transmitting interstate threats. He faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison of convicted.
This case was the 20th brought by the Justice Department’s Election Threats Task Force since its inception in 2021, the Washington Post reported.
The task force was formed to ensure that all election workers are able to do their jobs free from threats and intimidation.
