Due to the ongoing tragic wildfires in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas, CBS has pushed back the premiere of the reboot of game show Hollywood Squares to Thursday, January 16 at 8 p.m. ET. It was originally scheduled as the 8 p.m. ET anchor this evening.
Stepping into the 8 p.m. hour on CBS this evening is encore telecasts of George and Mandy’s First Marriage and Ghosts (which will also air from 9-10 p.m. ET into a repeat of Matlock at 10 p.m. ET). Repeats of the two comedies will remain in the 9 p.m. ET hour next week.
Hollywood Squares moves into its regularly scheduled time period, Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET, on January 29. It follows the new season of game show Raid the Cage, hosted by Damon Wayan’s Jr.
Hosted by Nate Burleson (CBS This Mornings, The NFL Today), and starring Drew Barrymore as the center square, the format of Hollywood Squares mirrors the earlier versions of the game show. The featured competitors are asked questions by the host and the contestants judge the truth of their answers to gain squares in the right pattern to win the game. The participating celebrities include Tyra Banks, Julie Bowen, Yvette Nicole Brown, Whitney Cummings, Akbar Gbajabiamila, Tiffany Haddish, Oliver Hudson, Pete Holmes, Gabriel Iglesias, Jo Koy, Jay Leno, Justin Long, Kevin Nealon, RuPaul, Andrew Rannells, Kristen Schaal, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, Sheryl Underwood and Jimmy O. Yang.
