Trial date set for man accused of attempting to assassinate Donald Trump
The judge overseeing the federal case involving a man who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump last month has set a trial date.Judge Aileen Cannon set Nov. 18 to be the start of the trial involving Ryan Routh. Routh is accused of attempting to assassinate Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump while Trump was golfing on Sept. 15 at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.According to the Associated Press, the assassination attempt was thwarted when a member of his Secret Service protective detail spotted Routh’s rifle barrel protruding through the golf course fence line, ahead of where Trump was playing, authorities say.
