Donald Trump made a strange call about insurance companies and healthcare as he signed the bill to reopen the government on Wednesday night
Trump called for money that would be going to insurance companies to be paid directly to American citizens so they can buy their own healthcare as he signed the bill to reopen the government on Wednesday night.
“I’m calling today for insurance companies not to be paid, but for the money, this massive amount of money to be paid directly to the people of our country so that they can buy their own healthcare, which will be far better and far less expensive than the disaster known as Obamacare,” he said.
“We’re going to pay a lot of money to the people, they’re going to buy their own healthcare, and we’re going to forget this Obamacare madness.” It comes as the daughter of Donald Trump’s doctor made a bombshell claim about his health.

Prior to signing the bill, Trump blamed Democratic lawmakers for a “broken healthcare system” and slammed Obamacare — the informal name of the Affordable Care Act — as a “scandal” and “a disaster since day one.”
“If you remember president Barack Hussein Obama when he came up with this crazy idea, he said everything’s going to be great, rates are going to go down, payments are going to go down, everything’s going to go down, it went the exact opposite, with the biggest increase of healthcare in any country, its a disaster,” he said.
Earlier in the evening, the House of Representatives voted to reopen the government after Democrats and Republicans were locked in a longstanding feud after they could not agree to pass a bill funding government services past Oct 1.
The deal passed 222 to 209, with six Democrats joining House Republicans to vote yes to reopen the government.
Shutdown caused a screeching halt
The shutdown left the federal government at a halting standstill, with millions of people losing SNAP benefits, federal workers being left without paychecks, and a reduction in flights at 40 major airports across the country.
Senate Democrats rejected a spending bill 14 times that would have funded the government because they were aiming to create an amendment to protect healthcare tax credits related to the Affordable Care Act, which would lower the cost of health insurance.
Both parties blamed each other for the shutdown. Republicans argued that the healthcare amendment was a separate policy fight that could be addressed another time.
The compromise funds three annual spending bills and extends the rest of the government funding through Jan. 30. Republicans promised to hold a vote by mid-December to extend the health care subsidies, but there is no guarantee of success.
“We had reached a point where I think a number of us believed that the shutdown had been very effective in raising the concern about health care,” said Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H. The promise for a future vote “gives us an opportunity to continue to address that going forward.”
The legislation includes a reversal of the firing of federal workers by the Trump administration since the shutdown began. It also protects federal workers against further layoffs through January and guarantees they are paid once the shutdown is over.
The bill for the Agriculture Department ensures that people who rely on key food assistance programs will continue to receive those benefits without interruption throughout the rest of the budget year.
It comes after Donald Trump and Melania’s unusual sleeping arrangements have been revealed.
