President Donald Trump torched Hollywood actor George Clooney after his sit-down with 60 Minutes, ripping the Oscar-winner as a “second-rate movie ‘star’” and accusing CBS of orchestrating a “puff piece” to rehab both Clooney and the Biden campaign implosion he helped accelerate.
The president lit up on Truth Social Sunday night after Clooney appeared on the show to promote his Broadway turn as CBS newsroom veteran of the 1950s Edward R. Murrow in a stage adaptation of the 2005 film Good Night And Good Luck.
The interview appears to have touched a nerve as the president unleashed on Clooney in a late-night screed on Truth Social.
Trump ripped the actor for having “dumped” Biden “like a dog” before backing Vice President Kamala Harris and also resurrected claims about CBS’s editing of Harris’s 2024 60 Minutes interview — central to his $10 billion lawsuit — and took fresh shots at the media’s “embarrassing and dishonest” handling of coverage leading up to the election.
Why would the now highly discredited 60 Minutes be doing a total “puff piece” on George Clooney, a second rate movie “star,” and failed political pundit. He fought hard for Sleepy Joe’s election and then, right after the Debate, dumped him like a dog. Later, I assume under orders from the Obama camp, pushed all out for “Kamala,” only to soon realize that that was not going to work out to well. 60 Minutes even fraudulently inserted Fake answers into her disastrous interview, aired just before Election Day, in one of the most embarrassing and dishonest events in broadcast history…And now George Clooney again? His press agent should be making a fortune!!!
During his 60 Minutes appearance, Clooney doubled down on his viral New York Times op-ed that urged former President Joe Biden to step aside last year.
Clooney, a longtime Democrat, accused his own party of “cowardice” and said he felt “forced to tell the truth.”
Murrow, who Clooney plays, was a vocal critic of Senator Joseph McCarthy’s anti-communist crusade.
The actor also likened today’s political climate to McCarthyism during the interview, warning that “governments don’t like the freedom of the press.”
