UConn head football coach Jim Mora made a promise to expose rivals who’ve been tampering with his roster this transfer season. On Thursday, he made good on that vow.
Mora took aim at a West Coast program that’s experienced a great deal of attrition of late. In order to make up for those losses, the school apparently targeted the Huskies.
The head coach took to X to put Washington State on blast for contacting a player impermissibly. He didn’t hold back!
“I was originally content with my decision with coming to UConn. I feel like I allowed Washington State to get into my head when I could have just ignored them, I expressed to them that I was signed but I continued to converse.”
Why do grown men continue to manipulate @NCAAFootball tampering rules and put players in the uncomfortable position this young man was put in! I promised to call out those tampering with our players and threatening what our players are working so hard to build. I intend to continue to do so and hope more college coaches will join me in fighting the blatant tampering taking place.

Mora didn’t name the UConn football player in question, but he didn’t hesitate to call out the program that tried to pry him away. The public evisceration comes shortly after announcing his intentions of revenge in the offseason.
He sent out a social media warning in December, noting his plan to expose tampering rivals of wrongdoing. He’s made it his mission to make their identities known.
A simple note to the schools and coaches that have blatantly broken NCAA rules by tampering with our players in the last 24 hours. We do know who you are, we will pursue all avenues to hold you accountable. We are excited that we’ve built a program where coaches have to cheat to beat us and we will protect that program. Think hard before you tamper with our players. #justgettingstarted

The Huskies just wrapped up a 9-4 season with a 27-14 win over North Carolina in the Fenway Bowl. That represented a six-game turnaround from the year prior.
Jim Mora is trying to keep his roster intact while others attempt to lure talent away. Washington State, meanwhile, has been on the losing end of the transfer portal battle.
Last year, the Cougars watched starting QB Cam Ward walk to accept a lucrative NIL deal at Miami. This year, his replacement John Mateer left for Oklahoma. To make things worse, head coach Jake Dickert bolted for Wake Forest this offseason, too. They’ll be starting from scratch in 2025.
Jim Mora doesn’t feel bad for Washington State, and he had no problem embarrassing the Cougars online. He’s looking out for the UConn football program, and he’s running through anyone that gets in his way.
