Newsmax host Wendy Bell complained Saturday during her monologue that her network had a “strict policy” on name-calling that she said prevented her from adequately insulting former GOP congresswoman Liz Cheney.
The host started her show by discussing the Republican-led House subcommittee that is currently investigating the bipartisan Jan. 6 House select committee Cheney sat on. Cheney and the committee’s seven other members have been accused of targeting now-President-elect Donald Trump in a witch hunt over his role in the storming of the US Capitol.
Trump and his allies have accused the committee’s members of destroying evidence.
Bell told her viewers, “There are so many words I’d like to call Liz Cheney, but go figure. Newsmax TV has this very strict policy, apparently about name-calling, which sucks.”
Last month, some House Republicans claimed Cheney should be prosecuted for her work on the committee. Trump has stated he believes all eight members belong behind bars.
Bell agreed with the committee’s recommendation that Cheney be prosecuted – and with Trump’s. During her Saturday monologue, she said she fantasized about a prisoner swap that would see Capitol rioters freed from jail in exchange for committee members:
Well, suffice it to say, a House oversight subcommittee investigating the bias and the politicization of the January 6th committee is now recommending Liz Cheney for criminal prosecution. Like, let’s just soak that up for a minute. This committee says Cheney colluded with the committee’s star witness, Cassidy Hutchinson, before Hutchinson’s testimony. And without her attorneys’ knowledge. That’s called witness tampering. And in these United States, it’s a pretty serious felony. So is obstruction of justice. You know what Cheney’s bogus select committee told the world so many of those January 6th protesters were guilty of? Am I wrong to fantasize here of a prisoner swap? You know where the January Sixers get out. The select committee members go in. Hey, some chickens have come home to roost. Why not?
