CarTrade has announced its unaudited Q2 FY27 results with a moderate revenue growth of 10% on a year-on-year basis and stable profitability of ₹66 crore for the quarter. The financial data was directly sourced from the National Stock Exchange, reflecting the sustained performance of the company’s various business segments and its discipline in spending during the fast-changing digital automotive segment of the Indian market.
Revenue growth and half-yearly financial performance
The revenue from operations was higher at CarTrade, increasing from ₹193.4 crore in the second quarter of FY26 to ₹213.1 crore in the second quarter of FY27. When compared with operating revenue of ₹201.2 crore in the first quarter of FY27, operating revenue showed a small improvement of 6% on a sequential basis. The company functions through three primary lines of business – Consumer, Remarketing, and Classifieds (which spans OLX India).
The Consumer segment accounted for more than 37% of total operating revenue in the second quarter of FY27, and the income from this segment was realised at ₹79.5 crore. After excluding ₹6.9 crore of intersegment revenue, the two segments were the Remarketing segment at ₹70.3 crore and the Classifieds segment at ₹70.2 crore.
For OLX India, revenue has increased 26% year-on-year between quarters, and the firm has witnessed an increase in earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization of 36% in the same period. CarTrade earned additional interest on bank deposits, fair valuation gains on financial assets and other miscellaneous sources of income, totalling its income for the quarter at ₹236.2 crore.
CarTrade generated an operating income of ₹414.3 crore in the first half of FY27, up from ₹366.5 crore in the first half of FY26, a 13% jump. Its net profit for the six months also rose by more than 10% to ₹122.9 crore, whereas its EBITDA jumped by 30% to reach ₹139 crore.
However, CarTrade reported a 20% year-on-year improvement in its quarterly EBITDA, which was ₹76 crore in the second quarter and ₹64 crore in the year-ago period. EBITDA margin rose 170bps to 36% in the second quarter of FY26 against 33% in the same period of the previous year, while PBT climbed 7% to a new high of ₹85 crore. Net profit grew by a mere 3% from ₹64 crore in Q2 FY26 to ₹66 crore in the quarter.
Expenditure breakdown and market presence
The main objective of CarTrade’s expenditure management was to ensure the profitability margins throughout the period under review. The company’s most significant expense category was employee benefit expenditure, which made up more than 55% of total expenditure in the current quarter and saw a year-on-year increase of 8%, reaching ₹83.7 crore for Q2 of FY27.
CarTrade’s total expense rose 6% to ₹150.8 crore in the quarter compared with ₹142.2 crore in the second quarter of FY26, after accounting for finance costs, depreciation, amortisation, and other corporate overheads. The firm’s ability to keep a healthy operational margin despite reasonable revenue growth was facilitated by controlled costs.
In addition to financial indicators, CarTrade reported high levels of consumer engagement on its digital and physical channels in Q2 FY27. The platform owned an average of 76 million monthly unique users, and a staggering 96% of its traffic was organic. There are over 500 active physical operations across the country.
Its business models expanded in a scalable fashion, reaching annualized rentals of 1.6 million auctions. CarTrade’s stock price on the exchanges fell just over 16% to ₹2,348, elevating the company’s total market capitalization to ₹11,414 crore (approximately ₹1.2 billion).
Conclusion
The financial results of CarTrade’s Consumer, Remarketing, and Classifieds divisions are indicative of consistent and profitable operations in the second quarter of FY27. The company delivered good operational efficiency and margin expansion with operating revenue growth of ₹213.1 crore and net profit remaining steady at ₹66 crore, backed by strong contribution from OLX India and robust organic user traffic. Amid an unenviable macroeconomic and market trading landscape, CarTrade’s steady half-yearly results, its strategies around costs, and its wide physical and digital footprint have the platform well-prepared for sustained future growth in the digital automotive space.
