Mygate has been able to raise ₹225 crore (approximately $26 million) in a fresh funding round from Dharana Capital. In line with this important investment, Dharana Capital has acquired 12% to 14% equity stake in Mygate. The deal has been made using a balanced mix of primary funding as well as secondary investments. For Mygate, the new investment is important because it represents the first fundraising back after three years since its last Series B fundraising in October 2019, amounting to $56 million, followed by another $12 million investment in November 2022 by Urban Company and Acko.
Strategic allocation and brand engagement
Mygate has announced concrete plans for what it intends to do with the new funding. The plans focus on the expansion and growth of Mygate. Using the newly raised funds, Mygate intends to focus on expanding its presence in premium gated communities in India.
The company’s plans are aimed at improving and growing its community platform, along with other related technologies. In terms of future business operation expansion, the management at Mygate plans to achieve operations at over 10 million homes in the next few years.
Mygate was founded by the enterprising group of individuals: Abhishek Kumar, Shreyans Daga, Vijay Arisetty, and Rohit Jindal. The company provides an innovative tech platform customized for resident communities. The customized platform allows Resident Welfare Associations and local citizens to effectively perform key operations, such as controlling entry of visitors, managing funds, booking amenities, and communicating with fellow citizens.
In addition to offering security and administrative solutions, the firm runs a specialized advertising platform designed for consumer brands wanting to engage with community members. Mygate boasts of an extensive reach, covering more than 27,000 residential communities and 5.7 million families across India.
Operational and financial performance
The latest funding round follows the financial success and enhanced operational performance of Mygate in fiscal year 2025. There is a substantial growth in operating income at the rate of 80%, rising from ₹96.2 crore in the last financial year to ₹173.5 crore.
This company has succeeded in reducing its net loss from ₹39.7 crore to ₹15.4 crore during FY25 compared to FY24. As per the financial information released by the company, Mygate would have recorded positive bottom-line numbers in FY25 without the effects of employee share purchase programs and stock-based compensation charges. These amounted to ₹22.5 crore in FY25.
Dharana Capital, the only investor involved in this fundraising round, specializes in investments in Indian-focused technology and consumer companies at the growth stage. The investment firm prefers to invest in top-tier organizations that rely on the power of technology to bring about consumer and operational efficiencies.
With its latest investment in the growing Mygate, Dharana Capital can add more high-growth brands to its investment portfolio. Some of the prominent names in Dharana Capital’s investment portfolio include Urban Company, Vyapar, Zopper, Lentra, Itilite, Petpooja, Temple, LAT Aerospace, and Beyond Appliances.
Conclusion
The current investment of ₹225 crore in Mygate from the renowned firm Dharana Capital positions Mygate as an established player in the community management and residential security space in India. With a 80% revenue growth and a substantially reduced net loss, Mygate is well-positioned to leverage its financial success and extend its reach geographically.
